Dive masters are professionals who help others go underwater. They lead organized and recreational dives. Dive master certification is required in many countries for divers who have to be a supervisor or guide. It is not possible for everyone to become a diving master. Description of the job for a diving master
What is the job description for a dive master? In short, it involves a variety of duties, including assessing the risks of diving, supervising customer dives, delivering briefings and leading groups through a dive. Divers can also have a variety of job descriptions. A dive master may be responsible for several different aspects of a dive shop, including the general operation and social media presence.
Diving instructors teach and supervise scuba techniques in swimming pools or open water. They also supervise activities that are not related to training, such as navigation exercises. Open water instructors lead students through the tour portion of dives. This includes the navigation exercise as well as the surface swim portion. The job description of a dive instructor may also include directing certified divers through a scuba review course. Diving instructors' legal responsibility varies from one country to the next. Some countries exempt diving instructors from legal responsibility if they sign a waiver.
Certification requirements
To become a Divemaster, you will need to take a course. Divemaster courses cover topics like managing divers, managing dive sites and finding the flow. The minimum number of dives candidates need to have completed must be at least 60. Divemasters can also help new divers with their theory and skills by assisting the instructors on dive courses.
Divemasters must take two-part exams in addition to the courses. Candidats must score at most 75% for each section of the exam to pass it. For the exam, candidates will use the PADI Instructor Manual and the eRDPML. Students must also prepare an emergency aid plan and do five waterskills exercises. The sum of all scores must equal at least 15 Divemasters must be certified after completing the course.
Internship required
There are various internship options to become a Divemaster. You can help with other PADI courses or set up dive sites depending on your preferences. It is possible that you will be asked to assist in skill circuits. The internship will follow a specific pattern. An average internship lasts eight weeks. In that time you could become an Advanced Open Water Diver. After four to five weeks of training, it is possible to become a Divemaster, Dive Guide, or Divemaster.
You may also be able to find a free internship for Divemasters in addition to paid internships. While free internship options are not ideal, you will have a lot of time to study and get advice from a Divemaster. As part of your internship, you might be eligible for manuals, certifications, and equipment. Be aware of all requirements before you sign up for any Divemaster course.
