Bonaire was second in Advanced Diving.
Scuba Diving Magazine readers named Bonaire as a top Caribbean/Atlantic diving destination for fifth consecutive year. In addition to winning the Best Shore Diving Destination title, Bonaire also received honorable mentions in the categories of Best Underwater Photography, Best Visibility, and Best Advanced Diving. The magazine's November 2021 edition will include the publication of the award winners chosen by readers.
Visitors to Bonaire can take advantage of the island's hiking trails and bike trails. You can even see flamingos in a national park. The island also has its water filtering system. This makes the water safe for drinking. 2016 saw the island host 114 healthy nests of turtles. This was their highest nesting season.

It is easy to get to dive sites because the fringing coral runs parallel to the island's leeward shore. Visibility is up to 80 feet/100 metres due to the reef's shallowness and warmth.
