PADI's Enriched Air Diver or SSI’s Enriched Air Nitrox courses are two options for you if you are searching for an online option to learn scuba diving. However, you may be wondering how to get started. This article will explain how to start, and the benefits and drawbacks of each. You'll also learn about online certification programs for nitrox.

PADI's Enriched Air Diver course

The PADI Enriched Air Diver course teaches students how to safely plan and prepare for enriched air dives. It is primarily computer-based, and the classroom portion typically takes an evening. It is compatible with Open Water and Advanced Open Water Diver courses. Nitrox dives are included as part of this course, but you can complete them on your own, if you prefer.

The course is delivered through interactive multimedia presentations and audio. These are easy to understand, retain, and use. There are short quizzes to test your progress. The course includes a Quick Review session, a practical application and two enriched oxygen training dives. There are also pre-dive simulators. PADI recommends that the eLearning portion be completed at least one year prior to you plan on diving with nitrox.

SSI's Enriched Air Nitrox course

SSI's EnrichedAir Nitrox course is a great choice for divers who want to extend their bottom times and cut down on their surface intervals. This course covers gas theory and proper mixing of enrich air. It also covers how to mark your tank. In this course, you will learn how calculate the perfect enriched-air mix for your depth. You'll also learn how to plan your dives to get the most out of enriched water.

After completing a Open Water Diver or Advanced Open Water Diver class, SSI offers an ongoing EnrichedAir Nitrox course. This course will teach you how to safely use enriched nitrox. It also helps you plan future dives so that you can minimize decompression sickness risks. After you pass the exams and complete the course, the enriched-air cylinder can be used safely.

Online courses for nitrox certification

You can get your enriched-air certification in two ways: online or in a classroom. To perform the skills in the classroom course, you'll need a dive computer. Your enriched air classroom certification will take approximately one to two hours. You can combine it with an Advanced Open Water or PADI Open Water course. Online learning is also available if you have limited time. You can also do the course online and take the nitrox test offline.

A dive computer, a diving cylinder and a manual are necessary for this course. An app that simulates an air enriched cylinder can be used to practice your skills if you have an online option. The EANx36 cylinder fits in both a classroom and online eLearning program. Students must be at least 12 years of age and must have a scuba computer to participate in the class.
