Skating opportunities
The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign has an ice arena that is open to the public. You can host a group event at the rink by following these steps. You must first make a reservation. This can be done at the Illini Union RSO Office (Room 284). When reserving ice time, remember that you'll need to supply a list of participants. You will also need to arrange for a supervisor at the rink to answer your questions during the rental period.
Center Ice Cafe
The University of Illinois Ice Arena has a Center Ice Cafe that is open to all. Located adjacent to the Customer Service Office, the cafe offers food and beverages. You can also find an Ice Arena Pro Shop that stocks many skating and hockey accessories.
Free skate trainers

Gas leak at UI Ice Arena
An Illini-Alert has been issued by the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign following a gas leak at their ice arena. After Ameren Illinois crews and firefighters discovered a gas leak, the building at 406 E. Armory Ave. was evacuated. To stop contamination from spreading further, firefighters closed the sideway to protect the arena. The leak is believed to have originated from beneath the building.
